Week Three

I’ve said it in every post, but I’m again struggling with what to say. While I was able to review IEPs and talk to the students (in general, not specifically about their problems) and teacher about them, I didn’t think anything stood out as a teachable moment. The two students with IEPs really didn’t have accommodations within the class I observe and didn’t seem to need them. While they are the two students who don’t give their speeches, they don’t seem to want to. I worked one on one with the two of them and no matter how I prompted them or framed the assignment, they still chose not to work. One of the students laughed at me and said, “I don’t care about this class, why do you?” so I do somewhat wonder if the issue is the climate of the classroom and how low-stakes the teacher frames it as.

Other than that, I don’t have much else to note. The teacher didn’t seem to care. The students didn’t really care. The days with the subs just involved watching movies. So I definitely didn’t see accommodations in action and really didn’t see much at all.

I’m sorry my blog posts have sucked, but I really don’t even know what to write.
